Write a Letter to the Editor
to Support a Real
Renewable Energy Standard
Two years ago the people of Missouri voted overwhelmingly to promote renewable energy in our state.
Called Proposition C back in 2008, the Renewable Energy Standard is supposed to require Missouri utility companies to provide at least 15% of their customer’s energy in a renewable manner by the year 2021.
Outrageously, the Missouri House of Representatives and Senate listened to utility company lobbyists over the voice of Missouri’s people. They recently voted to allow utility companies to meet part of this 15% requirement by buying energy credits from anywhere in the world.
Under this arrangement, Missourians will be denied the new jobs, cleaner air and water, and renewable energy infrastructure that Proposition C promised. This is NOT what we voted for.
Please send this letter so that your neighbors understand that the promise of cleaner renewable energy creating more jobs in Missouri is at risk. By sending a letter to the editor to your local paper, you can help educate your neighbors and motivate them to get involved to push the legislators to fix this mistake before the legislature adjourns on May 13th.
Click here to send a letter to your local newspaper about how the Renewable Energy Standard needs to be a standard for our energy here in Missouri. It is easy, we will provide you with talking points and a list of local papers.
Thanks for all you do!
